From the recollections of Mike Coyne:
The Northern Knights MAC was organized about 1965. The first president of the club was George Thompson. I recall the first meetings being held at his home in the sunroom. George's wife Mary was always good to all the guys invading her home. At the time we were flying at a park off of Russell road just east of N Brighton we called Airplane Park. Interesting note our Northern Knights logo was designed by my aunt Marilyn Mohr in 1965. She is now 94 years old still living in Cincinnati, Ohio. You could hear our planes flying from a long way off, since in those days there were no mufflers. R/C gear back then had questionable reliability and proportional control was in its infancy. Most radios were what was called " reed systems" which required the pilot to bump different switches for the wanted function.
Some original members names I recall were George Thompson, Ed Morrow, Duane Grigsby, Jim Anson, Jim Franklin, Walt Hulen, Bob and Jim McConnell, Gordon Rosenbaum, Leo Hylton, Marcy Inkmann, Bob Cameron, myself. I am sure I missed several, memory not that great these days.
